Traveling from New Hampshire to MB in late April, anyone have a suggested route and stay(s)along the way?
Help for a route/stays from New HampshirePerhaps a few more details would help.
Are you looking for fast, scenic, what kind of things do you want to see or stop at along the way?
Help for a route/stays from New HampshireAAA can help you with this trip.
In general, the quickest route is to get on I-95 and head south until you cut off to MB in South Carolina. Beware of traffic from Baltimore to Richmond. Through Virginia there are lots of motels along the road that provide easy ';on and off'; the road accommodations.
If you have the time, and are in the mood, for an extended, scenic journey, take the Garden State Parkway through New Jersey to where is terminates in Cape May. Stop to see the lovely Victorian resort town.
Continue your trip on the ferry to Lewes, Delaware, and down the coasts of Delaware and Maryland. In Virginia, detour to Assateague and Chincoteague Islands. See the famous ';dwarf'; wild ponies (which grow to full stature when brought to the main land and raised on normal feed).
Continue across the Chesapeake Bay Bridge-Tunnel (an engineering marvel) to Virginia Beach. If you want a really long ';wander';, you can take Route 17 (';Kings Highway';) through North Carolina, and all the way to Myrtle Beach. Otherwise, you can cut back over to I-95 for a more efficient trip.
If you are staying closer to the area of Dixie Stampede or north these directions will save you time. We are right by Tanger Outlets on 17 so that%26#39;s why we go this way.
How you get to the exit I mention below in North Carolina will depend upon which route you prefer to that point. If we%26#39;re going through the DC area during non peak times it%26#39;s generally not a problem. Otherwise we do take a different route. Depends what time you%26#39;ll be leaving New Hampshire
In North Carolina stay on 95 South until:
Take exit 14 for US-74 toward Maxton/Laurinburg - about 37 miles
Turn right at NC 410/US-701 –about 20 miles
Take ramp to Myrtle Beach/North Myrtle Beach
Merge onto SC-22 – about 20 miles
Take the Kings Road exit
If you want to end up going south on 17 take the US-17 S exit toward Myrtle Beach from SC-22 instead of the Kings Road exit.
Thanks for your help. We would be traveling the quickest way down as time is a factor. Any suggestions for an over night stop? We probably would leave early Sat and do most of the driving that day taking rte 95.
Also we are staying at the Sheraton Broadway Plantation Resort.
Hey NH I am also from NH but was thinking about trying to drive straight through. I would probably drive most of the way with my wife taking over so I could get some rest. We are a family of 6 and we may bring one of my kid%26#39;s friends so I would probably have to get 2 rooms if we stop.
