We are considering a trade into one of the marriot properties between Christmas and New Year%26#39;s this year. We are planning 2 day trips, one to Savannah and the other not sure yet (Charleston or Beaufort). We like to shop and eat of course. We also like the ocean. Which Marriot property would suit us best? (Barony, Grand Ocean, Habortown etc)?

Hello fellow ohioian!
We are former vacation club owners with the Marriott Company and from all of our past experience trying to ';trade'; to HHI never worked. In fact we never had much luck at all with regards to doing any trading.
For numerous reasons, HHI is difficult to get into. Now perhaps with your request of the Christmas holiday maybe you will have better luck??
We however do enjoy Harbortown./Sea Pines area. During our last trip to HHI, we rented a home from VRBO simply because we could not use a trade through Marriott.
You can%26#39;t go wrong with HHI. It%26#39;s such a great place to relax and the atmosphere is peaceful. Since you like to shop and eat then HHi will be a great choice.
We owned at Grande Vista in Orlando and just sad to say sold our timeshare.

Those I listed are available through Interval right now. They all seem to be ranked really high. I was kind of wondering about the actual placement of the marriot timeshares. Like, closer to restaurants and shopping etc.. I just have to make up my mind which one. Thanks for your input anymore would be helpful.
Ohio weather is killing me.
We traded for Heritage Club (at Harbor Town) 2 years ago and we also traded for it again coming up in March. We love this property because it also comes with several rounds of golf, including one round at Harbor Town which is a fabulous course.
I know Grand Ocean is right on the ocean I don%26#39;t remember where the Barony is located.
There is a lot to do in the Sea Pines resort area which is where HarborTown is located.
feel free to ask any other questions..glad to help if i can

buc: There are actually 7 Marriot timeshare properties on Hilton Head. They are:
- Marriott%26#39;s Barony Beach Club (Port Royal)
- Marriott%26#39;s Harbour Point at (Shelter Cove)
- Marriott%26#39;s SurfWatch (Folly Field/Burke%26#39;s Beach)
- Marriott%26#39;s Grande Ocean (South Forest Beach)
- Hilton Head Marriott Resort %26amp; Spa (Palmetto Dunes)
- Marriott%26#39;s Heritage Club or Harbour Club(Sea Pines)
- Marriott%26#39;s Monarch at (Sea Pines)
As for the three you have narrowed it down to:
Barony is rather tucked away deep into Port Royal Plantation. It is beside the Westin Resort. Would have to drive to everything. On the ocean. This hotel is not in a gated community.
Grande Ocean - is in Forest Beach near the Coligny Plaza. Within walking distance of shops, restauratns, bars, grocery stores. On the ocean. This hotel is not in a gated community.
Harbourtown - is in Sea Pines Plantation, a gated community. There are shops, restaurants in Sea Pines and there is a trolley that runs for free.
I have never stayed at a Marriott resort on Hilton Head Island. I would suggest in order of preference for you: Harbourtown/Grande Ocean/Barony.
Hope this helps,
D in Muskoka. PS: I am only going on these suggestions based on my knowledge of the different areas and what they offer, not the properties themselves. I don%26#39;t think you have anything to worry about though with a Marriott property. Surfwatch is the newest.
Luckytimer has it generally right, but she has a couple of errors.
The Marriott in Palmetto Dunes is a hotel and not a time share.
there is also Marriotts Sunset Pointe in shelter Cove.
If you want ocean then Grande Ocean, Barony, Surf Watch, and Monarch are the best choices in that order.
Some like Monarch because it%26#39;s in SeaPines, but it is the oldest of the oceanfront properties.

We are Marriott owners and have had no trouble trading for Marriott Hilton Head timeshares. We stayed at the Harbour Club in Sea Pines a few years ago and liked it a lot. It%26#39;s not on the ocean and has a small pool, but it very conveniently located. We really liked biking around Sea Pines, including biking to the ocean. In June, we%26#39;re staying at Surfwatch. I think I would have preferred the Grand Ocean, but I%26#39;m happy with what we got.
We are owners at Grande Ocean so we of course love it! We also love Barony, where we will be staying in July. I know Surf Watch is the newest but we prefer the others....they are much closer to the beach. Savannah is a wonderful day trip!!
Enjoy!
heritage club is avaliable throughii for christmas
week
We traded to Barony last year in March. This year we traded to Grand Ocean (just got back on Monday.) Both are nice Marriott properties and are on the beach. Barony is the ';heel'; of the island, Grand Ocean is located at the ';ball'; of the island. Both are comparable for activities, etc. We don%26#39;t spend a lot of time ';on resort.'; Must do at least one day for Savannah and one for Charleston (plantations were wonderful). We loved Beaufort, too. ABSOLUTLEY SKIP DAUFAUSKI ISLAND - IT%26#39;S A RIP-OFF!
Our choice has always been the Grand Oceane first because of location. Right on the beach and close to everything....shopping and restaurants.
Then, Harbourtown or Sunset Pointe...they are not on the beach but close to shopping and restaurants.
Barony is close to the beach but you have to drive to go shopping and to the restaurants.
It all depends on how close you want to be to all of the above.
