When my sister lived in Atlanta, I think going via Columbia was their preferred route.

We used to live in the N. Atlanta suburbs and have taken all the known routes. Hwy 20 is a good one; if you take shortcuts to save distance you%26#39;ll definitely see some interesting little towns but it won%26#39;t save you time. The Columbia route is a good one; but if you%26#39;re convenient to I85 then I%26#39;d go up 85 to I26.

We have tried several different ways but I-20 to I-26 is the best. You change highways in Columbia.
