Our trip to Charleston is April 4-11.

Staying on Folly Beach. Husband like civil war and othe military history. Teenager is a photography enthusiast.
I%26#39;m not clear on what we would see on the home and garden tour? Will it take the place of an historic home tour, or should I include one of those too, or is the historic home tour plus a plantation tour enough?
Thank you in advance for you advice.
I%26#39;ve planned most of our tip using this forum for recs on restaurants and sightseeing!!!
Any other new or must-do/must-eat recs also welcome here.
home and garden tour vs historic home tour
The Historic Society%26#39;s Home and Garden Tours is a month-long event; each day featuring about 8-9 properties for one price. You would purchase your tickets, be issued a map, and walk (primarily down a single street), going from historic home to historic home, each of which is marked by a flag and manned by docents who are given some pertinent facts about the homes, architecture, history and furnishings. Some of the days the tours feature homes; some days the tours feature gardens. It might take 10-15 minutes to get through each home so all of the homes can be done if you stick with the plan.(might be best to start at the last home on the tour instead of the first one)
If you toured a single historic home, that tour would obviously cost less but it would not be a home that is currently lived in - it is a ';museum'; of sorts. The tours I mentioned in the first paragraph are of homes that are currently lived in, so you get a really great idea of how people live in 100-200+ year-old historic homes. The Historic Society tours cost $45 for the 3-hour time period; the single museum homes might be $15.
