Advice on Day parking in Charleston

We are planning a trip for the weekend of April 3-5th, which is high season and hotel prices are out of sight. If we stayed near the airport, how long would it take us to drive into the historic district and where could we park and for what cost? Thanks

Depending on where you stay out near the airport it should take 15-20 minutes to get downtown. There are many parking garages in the Historic District. The one on the corner of Cumberland and Church St. is in a very good central location. I don%26#39;t know the exact price of the garage these days...went up earlier this year, but it should be $10-$15 per day I would reckon if you left your car most of the day. There are parking meters, but most have a two hour, or less, time limit...you can be ticketed after 2 hours even if you continue to feed the meter.

I%26#39;ve never had trouble parking for free on Murray Blvd. Watch it though b/c the residents only parking is not far away and you will be tempted!

Here%26#39;s a map that should help you find parking garages in Charleston...

Look carefully, for the most part, they are very well hidden.

Enjoy your visit!

Thanks for your responses - very helpful. I%26#39;m still not sure what we%26#39;re going to do - some of the historic area hotels and inns look so nice.
