The new clubhouse is supposed to open on Memorial Day weekend so I hear. I was talking to someone that I work with who was thinking of staying at Pelican Watch starting that weekend and the person that they talked to there told them that it is going to be really crowded that weekend and that if they were used to the peace and quiet of Seabrook that time of year that they wouldn%26#39;t be getting it for that week. Even in the summer Seabrook is never that crowed( I am using the Jersey Shore in July as an example) so not sure what that person could be talking about. Any comments would be appreciated. The couple pretty much has decided to not come which is to bad because they really love Seabrook.

I%26#39;m not sure what ';really crowded'; means either, especially on SI. Perhaps they are referring to the club pool area on a holiday weekend??
I was reading some of my SI club information last night--early reports had to club%26#39;s pools reopening at Easter. I%26#39;ll be on island starting Wednesday of this week and will do some checking around.
The new facilities are going to be fabulous. Would ';opening'; weekend stop me from visiting SI? NO! There are so many quiet places on the island a person could feel in total isolation;-)
I remember last summer there was an accident on a home renovation site (a construction worker fell from the second story). Apparently, all the emergency forces came out with ';bells and whistles'; , including a helicopter which airlifted the injured worker. All this happened about two blocks from my home...I never heard a thing!
Crowded to me is Walt Disney World at Christmas--you can%26#39;t move; or Destin, FL beaches--no where to put a towel.

Thanks for the information, will pass it along. We have vacationed on Seabrook in July and even then you can pretty much pick your spot on the beach and not have to worry about someone sitting anywhere close to you.
July is usually are SI time too:-)
Back to Memorial Day weekend, I%26#39;m really not sure that many more people will be on island. Most schools in the South are not getting out early to mid June; northern schools-late June.
I think the couple I was talking to uses the pool and restaurants on a daily basis so maybe thats what they meant and that is what they were told, that the pool and restaurant area would be busy, most likely by the residents who would like to try it out. You are so right about there being plenty of room for everyone on Seabrook, there always is room for all.
I am a property owner and just returned from our annual meeting. The Beach Club (pools and outdoor dining) are on schedule to be completed and opened for Memorial Day. The new golf and palmetto lakes facilities will open later in the summer and fall. I see no reason why it would be any more crowded this year. Come and enjoy - it sure beats the Jersey shore!!!
Thanks,you are so right about the Jersey shore. I will pass along this information to my co-worker who was thinking about coming down the week over Memorial Day. My husband and I are coming down the last week in June to July 4th to spend our 5th year staying at Pelican Watch Villas. WE have come to love Seabrook Island so much and can%26#39;t wait to spend our week just enjoying all that Seabrook has to offer.
techfan,
Isn%26#39;t the new Pelican%26#39;s Nest going to be fab! What a view.
I%26#39;m wondering if the ';crowd'; concern has to do with the restaurants? Club members recently received the following notice:
';Effective May 12, Bohicket%26#39;s Lounge will be open for lunch only, 11:00am-2:30pm, Tuesday through Saturday, offering a limited menu of pre-made cold sandwiches, hot dogs, and snacks as well as full bar service. The Island House will be closed for the season following Mother Day%26#39;s Brunch. The Pelican%26#39;s Nest is scheduled to open for lunch on May 20 (pending any unexpected construction variances) and will offer an expanded menu, to include dinner entrees in the evening. See you there!';
You are right about the view. Can%26#39;t be beat! The dining doesn%26#39;t bother me, there are many other restaurants that I enjoy although the Pelican%26#39;s Nest is by far my favorite for summer eating! We always have the restaurants at Kaiwah!!!
Congratulations, Seabrook, on your new clubhouse! It sounds wonderful. - kv
