Are you allowed to use beach shelters on Myrtle Beach?

I want to be able to stay on the beach and have the option to have some shade for my husband, my son, and myself. The large umbrellas only seem to provide enough shade for two adults and are expensive.

If I purchased this shelter (the link is below), would it be allowed on the beach?

I have never seen any so I am too curious to see what others say.

I have seen those on the beach before, I have seen even larger type canopies. They would be fine.

I have seen numerous of the type normally called ';easy up'; canopies. The type that when unfolded are about 10 feet square, the problem is the wind.

You can use them but they have to be behind the life guard rented chairs and umbrellas and not cause a hazard. Consult with the local life guard BEFORE you put it up and there should be no trouble.

Thank you for all the advice, especially about asking a lifeguard before setting up. I went ahead and ordered it.

I am concerned about the wind as well, but I found these bags on walmart.com called First Up sandbags, you get 4 of them for 7 bucks and they hold up to 15 pounds of sand. I will try and fill those up with my sons beach shovel. I think plopping those down in each corner along with our stuff will keep it from blowing away. Hopefully it works, I shall find out for sure this summer.

Thanks again!

What coasterminister said.

LOL at ';Coasterminister';...I am sure that was a spelling mishap, but now I am imagining a priest or pastor doing weddings under Millenium Force in Sandusky, hehe.

...why not ON the coaster? (I think that has been done already by coaster enthusiasts.)

Lots of weddings on coasters- but not mine.

johnjane, I don%26#39;t know what I was thinking when I typed that. sorry.
