Staying for 5 nights at Best Western early April and weather permitting most interested in natural beauty ie walking along beach etc. Wonder if any suggestions in this regard along coast within 1ish hours drive?
Have never been to SC before and wondering if any day tours to Charleston that might be good for a rainy day?
Other info I am looking for are affordable, clean, healthy food eating options in area - with a view would be great. May make mid-day meal main meal so OK with venturing outside immediate area maybe in conjunction with day trip recommendations above.
Day trips? Eating suggestions? You have to check out Brookgreen Gardens which is just south of Myrtle Beach.
http://www.brookgreen.org
From the website: The thousands of acres in Brookgreen%26#39;s Lowcountry History and Wildlife Preserve are rich with evidence of the native plants and animals of the South Carolina Lowcountry as well as the great rice plantations of the 1800%26#39;s. Explore these places through the programs at the Lowcountry Center by walking the Lowcountry Trail and by taking an excursion on our boat or overland vehicle deep into the Preserve.
Enjoy!

Day trips? Eating suggestions?Ditto to the Brookgreen Gardens suggestion. While down that way you could also check out Huntington State Park which is sort of a spin off of Brookegreen.
The Huntington%26#39;s who were responsible for Brookgreen also had the property where the State Park is. Their summer home called Atalaya is located there. More of a ';ruins'; now than a house but is interesting to walk through it and read the story.
Few miles farther south would be Pawley%26#39;s Island. Hammock Shops there. Fun little shopping complex. Small shops scattered around the pine trees.
Some people enjoy a day trip down to Georgetown. Old waterfront town. Not as far of a drive as Charleston.
To the north from where you will be staying. Not too far is Calabash just above the NC state line. Callahan%26#39;s Gift Shop is a great place to check out. Out on the waterfront you have maybe half dozen seafood restaurants.

Day trip to the north would be to Bald Head Island. Up and over to Southport. Take ferry over to island. No motorized vehicles allowed. Can walk or rent bikes.
Thanks - glad of these suggestions as first trip and would like to get a little sense of area.
Very easy to get around and navigate. Just about any ave from where you will be will run you out to RT 17. RT 17 runs the entire length of the Grand Strand. As long as you can find it and know north from south. You%26#39;ll be fine.
Couple minor tips:
Don%26#39;t forget NMB is different city than MB. The ave numbers will be the same. When looking for an address. Be sure and figure out if it%26#39;s NMB or MB.
Few miles south of Cresent Beach where you will be. As you hit MB city limits. RT 17 splits into Business and By Pass. Pretty much self explanatory.
You will see some addresses for King%26#39;s Highway. Same as Business RT 17.
Few miles inland is a RT 31. Runs parralel to RT 17. Expressway. No stoplights. From Cresent Beach it would be debatable how much time it would save. If by chance you find yourself running the length of the Strand. Might try it.
Very much appreciate these details. Will print this post to bring with me.
There are many places to eat. I like RiverStreet Cafe. A good cheap cafeteria is K%26amp;W. They serve all three meals.
I also like The Office. Shuckers has great HH they are located at Broadway. Bimini%26#39;s have good oyster.
There are a lot of places to eat.
