Villa across from Turtle Point Clubhouse

I%26#39;m considering renting a villa which is across from the Turtle Point Clubhouse. Is there any construction going on in this area? Is close to the beach? Other location is 4707 Tennis Club. Any thoughts?

Villa across from Turtle Point Clubhouse

There is no construction in the Turtle Point/Tennis Club area this year. The Maritime condos were completed in 2009.

I can%26#39;t compare the distances to the beach without better info on the location of the villa that is ';across from the clubhouse';. Do you know the unit number? Is it across the lagoon from the clubhouse? or across a street from the clubhouse?

After looking at a map to make sure, as Villa stated, w/o knowing which particular unit you will be renting, we can%26#39;t tell which location is closer to the beach.

That%26#39;s what it pretty much comes down to; both locations are about the same distance from the beach, depending on where your unit is located.

The villa is across the street from the clubhouse and is on a lagoon.

Sound like there is not a lot of difference in distance to the beach. Let other considerations determine your choice.

Thanks for your help. I also see there is a Shipwatch villa that might need our needs. Any thoughts on that area? FYI, I%26#39;m trying to find an owner rental that will rent for 3 days so I%26#39;m somewhat limited.

When are you traveling, and how many people? Any kids? Knowing more about your plans may help us to advise you on areas.

Shipwatch is one of the older buildings on Kiawah, but many of the units have been beautifully remodeled and decorated. Shipwatch is right on the beach, and the ocean side of the building has spectacular views from anything above the first floor (which is behind the dunes). The problem with Shipwatch, for a short trip, is that it is much further from The Sanctuary Hotel and most Kiawah Island Resort amenities

We%26#39;re traveling in June with our twin sons (it%26#39;s their 18th birthday). We%26#39;ve been to Kiawah before, but it%26#39;s been several years. Mostly wanted a nice condo with a close walk to the beach as I hate carrying stuff too far. Will probably spend most of the time on the beach and biking the island. Thanks again for your help. This site is just terrific.

As you have discovered, from June through mid-August most villas on Kiawah rent only by the week, with a Saturday-to-Saturday schedule.

It will be difficult to get a place for three days over a Saturday, because those days cut into two rental ';weeks';. You stand a better chance of getting three mid-week nights, especially if you find an owner who has a single open week.

Also, your exact dates make a difference. The first half of June (until Saturday June 13) is generally more ';open'; than the second half.

Be aware that when you rent for only three days, you will pay a nightly rate that is higher than the per diem on the weekly rate. (The weekly rentals, if you can take the time, are a very good deal.)

Are you looking at VRBO? Most listings on VRBO include availability calendars, where you can look for open weeks. If there is no availability calendar online, email the owner about your dates.

Thanks for your advice. Yes, I%26#39;m looking at vrbo and looking at going midweek. There are a few owners willing to rent by the night.

Good luck, and happy birthday to your twins!
