Do I wait until last minute or book now?

Perhaps someone could give me some input. My husband and I are going to Myrtle Beach 7-12JUN09. (First time) We already have airline tix but I was laid off recently so really need to watch our pennies. I already let some early discounts go by and have been on VBRO and Craigs list.Actually found an oceanfront condo for $500.00/week but our time frame was sold out.Can%26#39;t really find much for discounts for June. Do you think I should just ';bite the bullet'; and book or wait for perhaps a last minute deal? It does look like there are plenty of nice resorts on the beach. Of course, I would really like an oceanfront or oceanview condo with balcony with water views..am I asking too much to get a great deal on this type of rental? Does anyone know anyone to contact for a good discount? I really appreciate any help with this since I can%26#39;t seem to make a decision.

You still have plenty of time to find a deal. I would just keep looking...if you find a place you like but the price is a little high, don%26#39;t be afraid to make a standing lower offer for your week. As the time grows nearer you will have better results.

In the past, basically only winter rates have been somewhat negotiable, %26amp; it was very risky to show up in June without reservations. I think this year will be different, but there is certainly a limit to how hard a bargain you can drive in June. Next time plan to go before or after the school vacations %26amp; you will do much better.

I would wait until about the middle of May and see what specials are out. Also do as mentoned I ask for a better rate.

It is well worth your time %26amp; trouble to call %26amp; personally talk to the reservationist or owner. There are discounts available. You still have time to wait unless you are set on a particular resort. Oceanfront or oceanview should not be a problem. You can get good deals on ';angle oceanfront'; %26amp; still have a decent room %26amp; nice view.

Thank you for the info. I will wait and see what I can get. I would have traveled during off season but I got an awesome deal on Spirit Airline $18.00 flights.

Thank you and I will certainly use you for a resource. I have used Spirit Airlines to go to Punta Cana and they are very good...just have to be aware of extra charges(checked bags, designated seats, beverages on board). They have good non stop flights from Boston to Myrtle Beach for those who live in New England. So now I am waiting to get a ';good deal'; on a condo for the week of 06-12JUN09.

Now am looking at VBRO...guess a lot of people have good luck dealing with property owners directly.
