My wife decided recently to use U-Save car rental at Myrtle Beach Airport. The savings was about $6 for a 2 day rental.Well it wasn%26#39;t worth it,the car was filthy. The steering wheel was dirty,so was the dashboard and the seats were stained. When she mentioned it to the young man in the parking lot he did not offer to clean it,so she later did it best she could.
When she returned the car she had to take the key back to the desk as there was no one there to check it in.Manager was later contacted and he was not at all helpful.
Has anyone else ever used this company and what were your feelings?
U-SAVE Auto rentals
TONYMIK, I worked in the corporate headquarters for one of the major car rental companies for nearly 12 years and traveled extensively. I found the big accounts focus on customer service and cleanliness and quality of the cars. You may save a couple bucks renting from the U-save%26#39;s of the world, but generally, not worth the time and effort. I%26#39;ve been out of the business for about 8 years, but still rent from the big rental companies because I know the service and car will be better than the mom and pops.

We also rented from U-Save about 2 years ago and I guess we were fortunate because we didn%26#39;t have any problems. We rented just a mid-size car and it was clean as a whistle. They even gave us a complimentary car seat for my little one.
Sorry to hear you had a bad experience. We are headed back down for the 4th of July and I was already thinking about using them again.
We rarely have the need for a rental in Myrtle since we normally drive down, however, we%26#39;ve had the opportunity on the last couple trips to get incredible rates at Spirit Air so we have found the need to get a rental. On both occasions, we could not have been pleased more. We rented a minivan once and a mid-size more recently. Both vehicles were immaculate and the service at the counter was outstanding. We saved a substantial mount of money thru USave as well. Our most recent rental was a Chevy Aveo for 10 days which cost us a total of $197 (all taxes and fees included). I will admit, it would be more convenient to have someone in the lot to check you in, but......it%26#39;s not such a long walk to the terminal (did you notice that USave is the farthest away from the terminal?) and for what I saved......I%26#39;ll walk the walk! I referred a friend (who is in Myrtle at this moment) to USave. He was quite surprised at the savings he got over the reservation he made with another rental company. I%26#39;ll be anxious to hear if he has any war stories. I%26#39;m also using them again....day after tomorrow. I%26#39;m flying down with a few friends for a quick visit to my condo and a few rounds of golf. We got a full size 4-door Chevy truck w/cover for under $150 toal for 4 days. Although they also do not have any type of %26#39;speed%26#39; pick up......it appears that they are working at making it a bit quicker. I received a pre-rental email questionnaire which included all the questions that I had been previously asked at the counter.
I%26#39;ll let you know how this experience turns out!
I visit myrtle beah about 4 times a year and have used u-save for the last two year and have never had an issue. Plus the rates are far less then the major names. if fact i usually get a car with only a few thousand miles on it.
Sorry to hear that Tony. Never had a problem with U-Save. We always rent outside the airport because a short cab ride will save you a lot more cash because of airport charges the rental agencies have to pay. Maybe they had a short turnaround and your vehicle was overlooked but I%26#39;d recommend U-Save to anyone.

I just wanted to follow up on my most recent experience with USave. It%26#39;s short and simple.......check in was less than 5 minutes. Yes, I did have to walk about 200 yards or so to pick up my MiniVan (A free substitution because they did not have our pickup truck). Dropping off took about a minute at the counter. This time there actually was someone in the lot to take the keys, etc which was very helpful and saved about 5 minutes at the rental counter. All this for $135 including taxes, fees...etc. I can%26#39;t say enough about them.
On a related note....what a joy it is to use Myrtle Beach Airport. By the time I dropped my partners off at the curb, returned and paid for the rental and started walking over to the Spirit check-in, they were already walking towards me...all of us already checked-in and ready to go through security. Perhaps a total of less than 15 minutes from driving into the airport to sitting in our chairs, waiting to board! Of course balance that out with taking more than an hour to get out of Logan and over to our car in the parking lot.....then fighting with thousands of angry Bostonian drivers crawling along on the SE Expressway! UGH! Oh well......when%26#39;s the next trip to MB?? :o)
We are flying into MB Airport on Feb 25, 2007. I recently booked a full size car with National for 28 days. My quoted cost was about $1035 USD. After hearing about U-Save I checked them out. The quoted price for the same type of car for 28 days was not much different from renting direct from National. Where are the savings or am I missing something?
Are you getting a discount of some kind through National. I have rented through Enterpise many times. First time I figured what the heck and asked about corporate discount and got one. Rate was lower than others were getting off Priceline and all the other on-line services.
If you are planning on renting a car for close to a month I would seriously check out ';rent a wreck';. I know it sounds terrible, but their cars are just as nice (and sometimes better) than the ';big boys';. I have used them for family and friends staying with us for an extended period and always felt their longterm rate quite a bit better.
:)
Has anyone rented from U-Save car rentals out of Tampa, FL airport?
