We will be driving down to Florida in mid-June and are planning to spend a day in either city. We really enjoy history things and it appears both cities have a lot to offer. In the past we have been to St Augustine and really enjoyed that experience and both cities sound comparable. Can anybody explain the differences between the two cities and describe what they have to offer? I realize that I may be getting biased opinions in this forum so I have also submitted the same question in the Savannah forum.

Charleston or Savannah? 1 Day Only
In general, my preference is for Charleston which is larger and has more to offer than Savannah. That said, either city would be nice for a one day visit.
I don%26#39;t know your route from Nebraska, but you may find that Savannah is a more direct stop off the main road. If so, spend you day in Savannah, and save Charleston for a longer visit.

I agree with Villa. Charleston can%26#39;t be done in a day. Based on MapQuest driving directions, Savannah is significantly less out of your way than Charleston.
Ditto on the other comments! Save Charleston for when you have more time.
