anywhere reasonably priced in the historic district??

I have been racking my brain, trying to use Priceline, and calling personally many of the hotels and inns in the historic district. It is hard to tell really what they are like from some of the websites. My husband and I will be in Charleston from April 15-22, have already purchased tickets, and want to stay in the historic district. But im thinking its impossible to stay in that area for a week for less than 2000 dollars!!! Is there any other way of saving money while staying here that anyone can share with me?? Thank you sooooo much

anywhere reasonably priced in the historic district??

For a week - you could get a great beachside rental and drive in to the city for 1/2 that if you look.

Just one place you could look is www.vrbo.com (and then select ';Isle of Palms';, for example). You%26#39;ll be 20-25 min from the historic district but you won%26#39;t have to pay for parking (which ups your cost by about 100 dollars a week if you stay in the city) . Most rentals are Saturday to Saturday, and if I%26#39;m not mistaken your dates are Wed. to Wed. However, if there is availability I%26#39;m thinking that an owner would entertain your schedule.

I was looking at those places but we kind of had our hearts set on staying in the historic district. I was checking the hampton inn, it doesnt seem too far and was kind of reasonable.

Maybe consider this...try breaking up the trip in two (maybe try the more expensive hotels on weekdays and the less expensive ones on the weekend)????

Thats actually a good idea and I am going to start checking out ideas now!

Look up the rates at the King Charles Inn, Andrew Pinckney Inn and Indigo Inn. They should all be in your price range.

honeymooners: Try www.betterbidding.com and familiarize yourself with the site.

Here%26#39;s something that might interest you that was posted by someone on that forum:

';I am super-excited! After having no luck with reasonable rates for the Historic District, I rethought my plans and decided to try for the beach.

4* Mt Pleasant- Isle of Palms $80, rejected

They offered rebid with a $22 increase

Added W. Charleston and increased bid to $86

ACCEPTED!

This looks like an amazing hotel and I%26#39;m sure I%26#39;ll be pleased.

Thanks so much for all your help and, of course, I used the PRICELINE link from this board.';

Betterbidding will also show you the recent WINS on Priceline. Also, try Hotwire. It%26#39;s like Priceline in that you know the STAR level, but you don%26#39;t know the exact hotel. You don%26#39;t bid. You cannot cancel once you have found out the hotel and have booked.

Hope this helps,

honeymooners: Forgot to tell you, they got the Wild Dunes Resort, if that means anything to you.

Well, the searching is finally over!!!! I finally got Priceline to accept my bid of 150$ for a 3 star and up. I got the Holiday Inn Historic District. I was really hoping for the Elliot Inn but no such luck.

So anyway after everything was said and done, I realized that I paid 1280 for the week for Holiday inn, and I could have gotten the Andrew Pinckney Inn for about 100$ more. I read all the reviews about the Holiday Inn though, and they all sound very good.

So I called the Holiday Inn directly to try to find out what type of room I had. The receptionist said I had a regular King room. When I told her it my husbands and I honeymoon she immediately upgraded us to a balcony room! She was very nice and accomadating.

So has anyone else stayed at the Holiday Inn and do you think I got a good deal at 150 a night? thanks for your input!!

Ok, I just checked out the Andrew Pinkney Inn and am a little bummed out that I didnt book there instead of being impatient and going through Priceline..... Please some one tell me something great about Holiday Inn and what a wonderful choice I made!!! :S
