Can any one tell me where the pier area is? 14th street? Also what is around there? Is it a very busy section of the beach? Lots of Hotels? Is it considered ';North Myrtle Beach';? I hoped it wasn%26#39;t party central!!
Any info would be greatly appreciated.

The pier Area
There are 3 piers in the Myrtle Beach proper area. Springmaid is to the south then the 2nd Ave Pier and then Pier 14 near 14th Ave N. None would be considered North Myrtle Beach which is a different city all together. The Springmaid Pier would have the least development around it but that%26#39;s not as sparse as it used to be. I wouldn%26#39;t consider any of the 3 piers to be in or near ';party central'; though Pier 14 is closest to the old Pavilion area where all the cruising used to take place.
The pier Area
Ok used to take place? We are staying at the pavilion area in April and wondered how busy it will be? Thanks

When we were there last summer the old Pavilion area seemed almost dead in comparison to previous years. I doubt most of those businesses in that area will survive past this summer. But then I believe that is part of the plan to redevelop that area- close the Pavilion and squeeze the others out so they can buy the places cheap, tear it all down and build the upscale dining, lodging and shopping complex the polticians seem to so desperately want.
We just want a clean place to stay where we can eat peanut butter and jelly sandwhiches on the beach :) to get away from the snow and cold .( We are cookin in only)
My boys want to play foot ball on the beach and I want to lay on my beach chair and veg. Nothing fancy just to get away for 4 days to relax, so that should fit the bill!!!
Just some sun and quiet! We are SOOOOO tired of the winter here! So cold, dark and long!! :(
Any other info you might think is helpful would be great.

ddcile, are you staying in that area? The Yatchsman Hotel is right in front of the pier at 14th St.
(I have no clue what that hotel is like though..looks nice from the outside)
Rates should be low that time of year..April. Some people will be on Spring Break..so some places might be a little crowded...beach sould be ok though.
I think..in that area..there are little resturants you can walk to..coffee shops, diners, fast food.
The bigger, more popular resturants are a little more north...just a couple of miles. Although...the resturant Pier 14..is right there.
The Yatchsman doesn%26#39;t get really good reviews on here but Seaglass Towers does. I think they used to be part of the same complex but aren%26#39;t anymore. Also close to Pier 14 is Camelot, Roxanne Towers, Breakers and Atlantica but I have been told if you stay there to stay in Atlantica III, which is the newest building. Also close by are Bayview, Oceans One and Sandy Beach - where we are staying this year! The last ones are actually closer to 2nd Ave Pier.
We are staying at the Holiday Inn at the Pavilion. We got a efficiency suite with one bedroom and a fold out bed. We will cook in maybe eat out one night at the Golden Corral. ( Were on a budget)%26amp; we just want to relax , sit on the beach and play football!!!
Thanks for info any more would be appreciated!!

so...to answer your first main post...yes, there is a pier right there. There is a lot around that area to walk to. Might be a little busy...but not too bad that time of year. Yes, there are LOTS of hotels. No, it is NOT North Myrtle Beach. (That is much further north..a different city altogether. Confusing, yes) Shouldn%26#39;t be too much of a ';party central';.
Thank you...........my boys LOVE to fish so that will be great too! Glad to hear no party central!!

Pier 14 is too short for good fishing. You need to go to 2nd Ave Pier or Springmaid.
