Golf course questions

my girlfriend and i will be in mb march 28th- april 5th. I would like to get a round or two of golf played. What courses have good prices and are not crowded this time of year. My gf will not be golfing but will ride with me in cart, so dont want to pay full price for her to ride. Any ideas? I cant find nothing under $80 a round so far..Were stayin at sandy beach so maybe somethin close to that resort would help. thanks

Golf course questions

It%26#39;s pretty hard to say which courses won%26#39;t be crowded. For most courses down there, you get what you pay for (IMO), so you need to determine what price you want to pay and then figure out which courses are in that range.

How many rounds do you want to play?

You might want to contact someone who sets up golf trips to get better deals on golf. Try calling someone at www.golfdesk.com or www.mbgolf, or any of the other companies that specialize in setting up MB golf trips.

I played Possom Trot in November with 2 friends for about $45 and they added a 4th player to our group that had his non-playing father riding with him. Not a bad course at all for the money.

Golf course questions

You are in peak golf season so it will not be easy getting good tee times.Try Brick Landing,Lockwood Folly,Woodland Valley and Quail Creek. They are not that close but are decent courses that may have bearable rates.

ok thanks i found whispering pines gc. There rates are $51 for a round and $7 for my girlfriend to ride. They said no problem gettin a tee time when i arrive. Also only a couple min. from our hotel. Is this a decent course?

Andy....

You%26#39;ll find honest info on courses at www.mbga.com

Here%26#39;s what it says about Whispering Pines (rated 1 out of 5 stars) ....

Whispering Pines Golf Course 鈥?MBGA RATING - The City of Myrtle Beach took over the operation of this typical military base golf course when the Air Force flew the coop in 1993, and it appears that they haven鈥檛 spent a dime on it since then. From the Federal Government to local government, now that鈥檚 a real recipe for success isn鈥檛 it? The course has narrow, tree-lined fairways, plenty of water and unusually hard greens for the Myrtle Beach area. Since it adjoins Myrtle Beach International Airport, you may want to check the flight schedules, or just bring along some earplugs, just in case. The City was going to sell this dog, but couldn鈥檛 find a sucker. Now, with a new airport terminal in the works, it may become a rental car parking lot, or some other industrial property 鈥?any of which would be an improvement.

Warning: The industrial plant adjacent to this course has been found to have been contaminating the groundwater and soil in the neighborhood for decades, so if you don鈥檛 want to find yourself glowing in the dark, play with two gloves, don鈥檛 use the ball-washers and absolutely, positively DON鈥橳 DRINK THE WATER!

Indian Wells is south of where you are staying but is a good course for about $70 weekdays.

Check local newspapers for specials.

Criticism posted was rather harsh. While not as manicured as many of the better courses are it is far from being a dog.Interesting tree-lined layout and no housing on the couse are a plus.Go for it.

The MBGA web site is very opinionated and once put Pawleys Plantation in their listing of ';20 worst'; which is ridiculous.

hmmm much to ponder here. Doesnt seem like a good course. I should find a backup course, hopefully near the same price. Ill check those websites..Its been a pita tryin to find a course with resonable rates

Listen closely, while not a great course it is a good enjoyable course.I have played it 2 or 3 times over the years.Cyprus Bay is an example of a dog track.

Look in the Sun News if you still dead set against it and maybe you can find an aftyernoon special that suits you. Also try Eagles Nest and Woodland Valley.Remember its ';peak season'; for golf.

tony, im keepin an open mind. I will also check those courses u said also possum trot
