First trip to MB

I have read lots of reviews on a lot of hotels/resots and still can not decide; however I%26#39;m currently leaning towards booking at the Avista. We are a family of six, our young adult children :) are ages 20 to 24. My husband and I will be celebrating our 25th wedding annivesary in May so we are looking for a place that is comfortable, affordabale, quiet, but with venues that will keep the young adults entertained.

First trip to MB

Don%26#39;t know if these places will be affordable but there is some entertainment either at the hotel or nearby: Note that Avista Resort is in the town of North Myrtle Beach which is not Myrtle Beach.

-Breakers Resort (on site dining and entertainment next door and across the street)

-Coral Beach Resort (on site entertainment and dining)

-Anderson Ocean Club no entertainment on site but they have a spa on site and it%26#39;s a pretty nice looking place.

-Monterey Bay Suites

There are more.

You might actually be able to find something more suitable in North Myrtle Beach for your needs.

First trip to MB

Nothing wrong with the Avista. Enough years on it it really doesn%26#39;t fit the ';new'; tag but it%26#39;s still way above average.

If you go to their web site you%26#39;ll find a link to their web cam. Can get good look at the pools and the beach.

Only real negative I have heard is the oceanfront view. The building is curved facing the beach. How good the view depends on location in the curve.

Being new to MB you might not realize. Myrtle Beach and North Myrtle Beach are two seperate cities approx. 5-10 miles apart depending on where you start to measure.

Avista is in NMB so keep that in mind when you go looking for the address. Can be confusing if not aware.

Short two block walk to Main Street Ocean Drive. Beach shops and some dining. Short drive to other dining and groceries.

Young adult club on Main Street called Spanish Galleon.

Para sailing and banana boat rides near by.

Thank you. I didn%26#39;t realize that info about the Avista; very helpful.

Might add....Not that bad of a drive to MB attractions if location is a question mark.

Number of attractions in NMB plus maybe 20-30 minutes to heart of MB. Also short hop to the north for Calabash, NC for seafood.

Bit less congested than MB. Ocean Blvd has much less traffic. Beach isn%26#39;t quite as crowded as other areas.

Consider Litchfield Beach or Pawleys Island, about 20 mintues south of MB, but more laid back and not as cluttered.

There is night life in Murrels Inlet, close by, and great dining in the LB/PI area. For information on rental houses, where you can all stay together, or condos, same development with each family%26#39;s own space, let me know.

We have vacationed in the area for 30 years, and it%26#39;s our second hoem.

Any info on rental homes or condos in that Pawleys Island area would be helpful.
