Best Deal for Place to Stay and Places To Eat?

for a family of 3 adults and 2 children, where would be the best place to stay close enough to be able to ride the tours w/moving the car and not pay expensive hotel prices?

also, does anyone know all of the places to eat that DO NOT serve alcohol at their location?

thanks.

i meant ';not'; to have to move the car. sorry.

When are you coming and what tours are you speaking of?

we%26#39;re thinking about coming end of may around memorial weekend. i wanted somewhere safe but close enough to walk or take a trolley for instance to the shopping or be picked up for the tours to the different sightseeing locations (magnolia, middleton, yorktown,), various ones i%26#39;ve read about since we%26#39;re from out of town and this would be my first time visit.

also, we would like to know where you can take a family to eat and it be a good atmosphere where they do not have alcohol.

thanks.

That will be a busy time, and prices will be up for the hotels downtown. Also, there are no trolleys, and the places you mention necessitate you driving. You will need 2 hotel rooms, or a suite, and I suspect the lowest you will pay is $150 if you can find it for a regular hotel room. If you stay in Mount Pleasant, hotel costs would be slightly decreased. This is where the Yorktown is located.

There is a city bus system, but you will waste quite a bit of time depending on the bus to get to the locations you have listed. It is easy to drive in Charleston and easy to find parking.

Please tell us what you consider ';not expensive'; and we can help more w/motels.

Also, there are any number of very family-suitable restaurants in Charleston, but most restaurants do serve alcohol. I don%26#39;t know if you are meaning you don%26#39;t want to be around rowdy people or what, but we%26#39;ve been enjoying the Charleston area restaurants from the time my son was still in a stroller and have always gone where ever we wanted and have never seen anyone acting out of sorts. Gilligan%26#39;s and Fleet Landing are two that pop into my head right away that would be family friendly and are in the historic district, but they do both serve alcohol.

not expensive being still within ';hotel'; range about or less than 150.00/night.

thanks.

Please describe what you consider ammenities of a hotel.

For lunch (or breakfast!), Joseph%26#39;s is reasonably priced and does not serve alcohol. Joseph%26#39;s is one of our favorite stops. Joseph%26#39;s sandwiches are huge. You can take the leftovers home for another meal or snack.

Try the entertainment book and restaurant.com for deals. You can preview both on line to see if it fits your needs. I just ordered my entertainment book, good deals and you can use more then one coupon at a time. For example 1 child free with an adult ticket x2 = savings........

2 queen beds w/sitting area w/pullout for 5 people w/frig/micro, cont. bfast, nice and clean safe area w/pool. also, i%26#39;m reading it%26#39;s expensive to park in downtown charleston. is it better price vs. convenience to stay at one of the beaches (isle of palms, sullivans, folly for instance) and drive daily or pay more to stay downtown and stay put?
