Best area to stay

We are still trying to find the best property for ourselves and the 3 boys. We have a choice between a few in Inlet Cove or there is one with resort facilities - 478 Fiddlers Reach. It is more expensive and, apart from my son who may have a game or two, we are not golfers! Any thoughts?

Thanks

Best area to stay

Inlet Cove is a great choice, Kiawahvilla will be able to give you all the details about that area.

Remember, Resort guests, besides the discounts on golf, will also have reduced rates if they choose to take any trips or tours through the Resort. That may impact your thinking, look through their offerings and see if you would be interested in doing any of those things and how would the cost savings balance out w/the more expensive accomodations.

Best area to stay

My personal preference is generally for Inlet Cove, because of the community amenities, including the fishing dock. If you can send me (by private message, perhaps) the numbers/locations of the Inlet Cove cottages you are considering, I can offer specific advice.

The Fiddlers Reach unit is in the ';Oceanwoods Cottages'; area. Oceanwoods is VERY close to the beach access, as well as to Night Heron Park. OC is one of the ';older'; areas on Kiawah (by ';older'; I mean 1979 -LOL!). Quite a few of the original ranch-style cottages have been beautifully renovated and expanded, but the layout of the community has an older feeling. Also, the Oceanwoods Cottages are lower to the ground than those in Inlet Cove, and interior floorplan of the OC cottages makes them feel somewhat more ';enclosed'; (in my opinion).

Thinking about this topic some more ...

In my opinion, you cannot go wrong with either location you are considering; however, the Inlet Cove area and the Night Heron Park area are differ in ways that may be important to you.

If you want proximity to The Sanctuary Hotel and to feel central to the Kiawah Island Golf Resort, its recreation programs and facilities, rent near Night Heron. Night Heron Park has playing fields and a playground that your children might enjoy. Teen and children%26#39;s activities center around the Night Heron pavillion, and Night Heron%26#39;s ';Nature Center'; offers excellent programs and tours.

If you want a lowcountry beach vacation, with access to the resort but still separate and apart, rent at Inlet Cove. Inlet Cove is almost a resort unto itself. Only a few homes in Inlet Cove are managed by the resort, because people who own and rent there often have minimal interest in the big ';resort amenities';.

When we were first vacationing on Kiawah, we rented in Night Heron cottages and in Oceanwoods. Although I preferred the feeling of the Night Heron cottages, I LOVED the quick and easy beach access from Oceanwoods.

When we had been going to Kiawah for several years, we discovered the Inlet Cove cottages on the river. From that point, we rented on the river in Inlet Cove, except for two years when we rented a private home on Eugenia Ave., near Oceanwoods, after our Inlet Cove rental left the rental program.

Now we own an Inlet Cove cottage on the river, which we use as our private (unrented) Kiawah home. We also own a Parkside townhouse on Night Heron Pond, which is managed by the KI Golf Resort. The Parkside place is an excellent rental location because of centrality to the resort.
