we are coming down for spring break march 29-april 4. we are going to try the marriott barony beach club.

first, have any stayed there recently? your thoughts?

second, can anyone tell me things that are close to this resort? for example, grocery, restaurants, minature golf, bike rentals?

We have stayed just down the beach at the Island Club. The Marriott Barony Beach Club looks very nice from the outside. Port Royal/Folly Field is a very quiet part of the island.

There is a Carrabba’s and Miniature Golf (Adventure Cove) at the corner of 278 and Folly Field (biking distance from the barony). At Shelter Cove (South of Port Royal) there are many restaurants and shops including a Piggly Wiggly. North of Port Royal there is a Bi-lo and farther north is a Wal-Mart (not a full grocery store) and a Publix. We tend to favor the Publix and Piggly Wiggly.

Port Royal Plaza, where Bi-Lo is has a number of restaurants, including north island outposts of some favorites.

Fiesta Fresh, Reilleys, Plantation Cafe, as well as others.

Across the street is Pineland Mall with other fine restaurants.
