senior week rooms

We are a group of 3 moms bringing a group of 8 high school seniors down in June. We would appreciate any hotel recommendations- oceanfront and close to the Pavillion. Originally, we wanted to rent two rooms , close together , so that we could be close to the girls but not on top of their every move. The hotels that we are calling require an adult in the room with the girls. If this is the case, how do things get so out of hand during that week? Any hotel recommendations and what to expect during seniors week would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

senior week rooms

There are a few hotels that do rent to high school kids. When my son went down 4 years ago (from WVa also) he and his friends stayed at the Sand Castle (I think) It was only about three blocks from the Pavillion. Not a great place, but good enough for 6 18 year olds. The nicer hotels will not rent to kids, but you should not have a problem if you just tell your girls to behave, be quiet and be respectful. Just DON%26#39;T tell the front desk that the Moms are staying in one room, with the girls in another. Let them ASSUME that.

And be sure to lay down some rules for your girls.

BTW, there is a LOT of beer drinking during Senior Week. Don%26#39;t know how they get THAT, but they do. Police will patrol the steets and they WILL arrest kids for public drinking, so beware!

And at least once during this time some drunk kid will attempt to jump from their balcony into the pool below. A couple have NOT made it!!

Well, I meant, let the front desk assume that the girls WILL have a mom in the room with them. Sorry, didn%26#39;t mean to confuse you.

Thanks so much Beachlady. We are still up in the air. I appreciate your response and advice. Just one more thing to tell the girls although you hope they don%26#39;t get any ideas on the beer drinking. Thanks again..good advice!

You%26#39;re welcome princesscards.

Now my 17 yr old junior has been invited to go to ';Senior Week'; with his senior friends. ugggg. And I thought I would have another year to go. Big discussion in our household these days now.

Our daughter is graduating high school this year and has convinced us that Myrtle Beach is calmer/safer than Panama or Daytona. Now I am getting nervous - they are 6 girls going - unchaperoned - am I being stupid? Be frank - please tell me what you know!

How bad is senior week?

Well, it can get pretty rowdy. Yes, there is LOTS of drinking, but I really think most of it is done in the rooms, as the police really patrol the streets pretty well. My son actually come home a day early because he was just tired of it. All they did was hang at the pool or on the beach during the day, then walk along the strip/pavillion area at night. Gets kinda boring.

Plus he ran out of money! LOL

You know your daughter, but just talk to her and let her know what you expect from her. If she goes just make sure she calls home daily and let her know she doesn%26#39;t have to ';follow the crowd';

Thanks Beachlady3. My daughter and her group of friends are great girls, they have never been in any trouble and have watched fellow classmates make mistake after mistake. They are a tight group that went through grade school together, so they have all known each other a long time. I have know all the families forever too. You are right I do know my daughter. I think I am more afraid of what other people might do that might harm her or one of the other girls, not of something stupid she might do. But I guess that just goes along with being a mom.

Thanks again

I am a high school student going to senior week this summer. Myself and 3 other girls are renting a condo. The realty agent we dealt with got us a great deal and there were no problems with us being 18. Most rentals want you to be at least 25. We are looking forward to having a great time. There will be no chaperones.

Sounds great tatapie!

Have fun!!

Stay safe!!!!!

sorry, that%26#39;s just the Mom in me;)
