This may be an odd question - but it looks like my friends and I will have to drop our rental car off by noon on the day we leave Charleston, to avoid a rather large %26#39;extra day%26#39; charge. Our flight doesn%26#39;t leave until 4:30. So, I%26#39;m wondering if we could drop our rental car off, check in our baggage{?}, and then find somewhere for a leisurely lunch in the area or a short taxi ride away?
restaurants in or near airport?Where are you coming from? Will you have been in Charleston for a while? If not, I would suggest having lunch in Charleston.
CHS is a small airport. The restaurant in the lobby, before security, is comfortable enough to sit for a while, and the food is ';OK';. In the immediate area of the airport there are no restaurants of any distinction.
You have plenty of time to head into Charleston for a nice lunch; but, depending upon the size of your group, the taxi costs could add up if you do the round trip from the airport.
Here are the taxi rates from the airport to peninsular Charleston, or the area surrounding the airport -

restaurants in or near airport? The 4 of us are driving into Charleston on Sunday, March 29, after spending a few days in Savannah, and leaving on Wednesday, April 1. So, taxi for 4 might get pricy.
Thanks for the tips - I feared that might be the case re: the airport.
There is a Tanger Outlet for some good shopping that is not too far from the airport. There are some chain restaurants around it (easy to walk to) including a Jim %26amp; Nick%26#39;s which is pretty good BBQ.
Take a taxi%26#39;s phone number so you can call them with plenty of time to spare getting back to the airport for check in.
I agree with SCBlossom on Tanger outlet and a few restuarants right around there, but even before you get to the outlets there is a Chili%26#39;s on the same road to/from the airport, but you would still need a taxi. Plus the Chili%26#39;s has an outdoor patio.
