We%26#39;d like to break up the 12-hour drive from Cleveland to Charleston when we come in April. Any recommendations for a location for a midway overnight stop along I-77 -- even just a city will be helpful.
It%26#39;s been more than two decades since my family made the drive. Then our kids were too young to make the trip without stopping; now I%26#39;m too old (and inclined to get stiff) to make the trip without stopping.
Overnight stop between Cleveland and Charleston
We leave from the Columbus area and if we stop it will be either Beckley WVA (Country Inn %26amp; Suites) or Wytheville, VA (I think we stayed at the Hampton last time).
I would recommend making reservations and not just taking a chance on finding something.
Have fun!

Thanks, K-beth, I thought you might be the person on this forum most likely to respond. Berea to Beckley is about 5 hours (just right given that we might leave mid-afternoon on a Friday), and then we can drive the rest the following day.
Hubby just made reservations for us this morning for when we head down just before Christmas...will leave early afternoon and drive to Wytheville, when we leave late in the afternoon we always stop in Beckley.
As I get older, more and more I prefer to break it up (never understood when my parents used to take 2 days to get here, now I know!). We always do the trip home in 1 day though, it%26#39;s hard to leave!!!
Hope yours is a good trip, any more questions, be glad to help!
Beth
Beth, how fortunate you are to have your place in Kiawah! When you%26#39;re making reservations, does your husband generally contact the hotel directly or is there a booking site you like too use? We won%26#39;t be heading to SC until the beginning of April ourselves.
We%26#39;ll be leaving early afternoon on April 9 and checking in at Port O%26#39; Call villa on IOP on April 10. Thought we%26#39;d stay overnight at Fairfield Inn %26amp; Suites in Wytheville VA, which was built in 2008. TA reviews are fine, and with Marriott Rewards # plus AAA it%26#39;s only $85.50.
Have a great trip!!!
We%26#39;ve reserved Fairfield Inn Beckley for total of $79.52 (AAA %26amp; Marriott Rewards) for overnight on our drive south. Just about 3.5 more weeks!
