dean walker and family restuarant, hollywood, sc

dean%26#39;s is located north on 164 past the intersection of 165. we had a marvelous meal. we all had seafood, some had broiled some had fried. we were a party of four. the place is clean and the food reasonably priced. you want fancy don%26#39;t go, but if you want to meet good folk in a casual atmosphere-this is your place. dean%26#39; s has been there for 19 years. stop in and say hello to dean. our total meal price was $55(not including tip).

The Old Post Office is a very good restaurant. I think it is very reasonable for the quality of food. The wine list is amazingly reasonable.

Another very good restaurant is Po Pigs Barbeque, next to a grocery story in the middle of the island. It is open 3-4 days a week during the summer season, less in the off season. It has great traditional souther food, and has been written up favorable in Gourmet and Saveur magazines. It is very inexpensive for an all-you-eat buffet.

We have always enjoyed the Dockside restaurant. It%26#39;s standard beach seafood, but always good - and I love their fish stew. We have also had some very good breakfasts at the Sea Cow. You can get a great, cholesterol-laden lunch at the Ruby Seahorse - make sure you try their Pimento Cheeseburger. You can also get very good traditional southern/gullah food at Main%26#39;s Market.

Of course, nothing is better than a meal prepared at your beach house with produce from George and Pinks and fresh seafood or casseroles from Mr. Bell%26#39;s seafood.

Bottom line, Edisto has some places that are well-regarded by ';foodies'; throughout the southeast. Check out the forums on chowhound.com or roadfood.com if you don%26#39;t believe me.

Just a little clarification...it is actually located on Hwy 162. We lived walking distance from Dean%26#39;s and know their son and daughter well. One of the menu items is named after Kimmie! Their food is amazing and on Wednesday nights they do a pizza/wings night and Jason makes a killer pizza!
