We would like to go to Myrtle Beach the end of June; returing home July 4th. This would be our 1st trip, so we are not familiar with the area. Based on availability and our requirements, the choices seem limited. Our needs/wants are: ocean front, pool/lazy river, room/suite with 2 beds/sofa bed, suitable for 10 year old. We%26#39;ve narrowed our choices to:
Dunes Village Resort, Marina Inn @ Grand Dunes, Ocean Reef Resort, Long Bay Resort, The Caravelle Resort, Holiday @ Pavillion
Any comments on location, amenities, etc.?
Which of these hotels for 1st time family
I can only comment on Dunes Village. Great resort that is beach front and in my opinion, one of the best locations on the beach. Wide beach that has nothing but houses south of it so if you want some less crowded conditions, you can walk south a bit past the resort. Dunes Village has a great indoor water park that is in both buildings and has outdoor pools. As will most of MB, you will need to drive to your favorite attractions and places to eat, but you are an easy drive to both Broadway at the Beach and Barefoot Landing from Dunes Village. The Dunes has a parking garage across the steet and some onsite places to eat that were not that great when it comes to price and quality. The multi-room suites have a full kitchen in them so you can buy food for early meals if you want and enjoy dinner out which works great for some.

Marina Inn is lovely but not on the ocean. It%26#39;s just off the 17 bypass. A bit of a pain to get to the ocean as you%26#39;ll need your car. Wouldn%26#39;t be my first choice with a 10 year old.
Dunes village, Long bay, or Ocean reef are my favorites. Location and amenities are great. Dunes village been the nicest.
Ocean Reef all the way!
Thanks for all the responses. What are the things you like about Dunes Village and Ocean Reef?
Dunes Village is in a residential area , which is nice and quiet as well as Ocean Reef and Long bay. Dv has really nice new rooms. All the amenities at all 3 resorts can%26#39;t be beat. IMO DV has the most amenities. They are sister hotels and have great customer service.
We like Dunes Village because it was pretty new at the time of our visit and for the indoor water park.
The location of Holiday Inn Pavillion isn%26#39;t nearly as nice as the others.
some other choices....Carolina Winds

Grande Shores...

They both have everything you are asking for....plus in a very nice section of Myrtle Beach.
