I thought I remembered a thread (quite a while ago) that mentioned an area of NMB to avoid. I%26#39;ve looked back through but can%26#39;t find it.
I%26#39;ve driven through NMB numerous times %26amp; don%26#39;t remember seeing any areas that looked bad or unsafe.
My family always stays in MB or Surfside, but we%26#39;re looking into NMB for a larger family group.
Thanks for any help.
Areas to avoid
We stay NMB every year and i don%26#39;t really know of an area to avoid we have been staying in the crescent beach and windy hill area just because it is a little closer in and you don%26#39;t have to drive as far to get to good restaurants etc... We don%26#39;t want to stay in the cherry grove section for that same reason, it is to far north.
Areas to avoid
I%26#39;ve stayed in the Ocean Drive %26amp; Cherry Grove sections of NMB for the past 7-8 years and haven%26#39;t noticed any areas that look unsafe.
I also use to stay in the Surfside, Garden City area, but we moved up to NMB so we could rent larger 4 bedroom plus condos.
Atlantic Beach in NMB is probably what you are thinking of. There really isn%26#39;t anything to rent there anyway but I would avoid walking through that area. Bay Watch Resort borders but it is cut off by a fence so if you choose to stay there you should be fine.
MZVikkee that isn%26#39;t true! The beach area next to Bay Watch resort is probably one of the best beach areas to rent bikes, beach chairs and umbrellas, go Parasailing, ban. boat rides or have one of the original frozen lemonades that aren%26#39;t available anymore. It looks just like the rest of the beach area!
Please make sure you are up to date with your information. There isn%26#39;t an unsafe area in NMB.
All I know is there is a fence at Bay Watch that borders Atlantic Beach. I%26#39;ve stayed at Bay Watch a couple of times always in early Spring and yes I always felt safe there but I read the The Sun News everyday online and locals that have lived there for a long time has always told me to stay away from that area after dark.
