We will be going to Darlington in May for the Nascar race. Darlington and Florence hotels are completly booked. What area should we look at next for a hotel to stay in for a couple of nights? Something within 1 to 1/2 hours drive would be best.

Yet another Palmetto Dunes question. Thank you for all your previous responses (especially HHI Guy).
Which villas are an easier walk to the beach. Turnberry looks closer (as the crow flies) then Fazio but appears to be behind a golf course. If you were staying at Turnberry Villas would you have to loop back around on Carnoustie or is there some type of walking path that crosses over by the golf course?
We have two small children and would like to be able to walk or at least an easy bike ride to the beach.
Thank you.
Turnberry VillasI haven%26#39;t stayed in Turnberry, but I%26#39;ve stayed at Inverness several times. (You turn left into Turnberry and right into Inverness). In my opinion, it would be too far to walk especially with young children. Whether or not you ride a bike or drive would depend on how much stuff you wanted to take to the beach. For some reason my wife likes to take big stuff like an ice chest so we always drove and parked at the Disney pavillion parking lot.
Turnberry VillasIf you Google ';palmetto dunes map'; you should come up with a link such as the one below. The one time that I drove through Turnberry I remember it being pretty deep. The map seems to confirm this:

I found the following info on a vacation rental site:
';Access the bike path at the entrance to Turnberry and be on the beach in less than ten minutes. Free beachfront parking is available.';
Looks like there is no shortcut.
As the other posters have mentioned it is a longer route to the beach from Turnberry and Inverness than from Fazio.

Does the town allow it? We are staying at Parkside and it would be nice to fish off the dock. Thanks in advance to you Kiawah experts.
Yes.
Night Heron Pond (Parkside) is a recognized fishing location. Here are the maps -
kicalakes.us/LakeManagementInfo/FishingTourn…
Years ago, you used to see lots of people fishing from the Parkside docks. Now, there are more sunbathers than fishermen.
If you prefer to leave the house for fishing, there is also a community fishing dock on Night Heron Pond.
Thank you! We are going in 2 weeks and will take our fishing rods.
Check at the Night Heron Park nature center for fishing information. I believe the pond is stocked with tilapia, because they eat mosquito larva. Don%26#39;t know what else is in there. There are other great fishing spots around the island.
Watch out for the Night Heron Pond alligator(s), who will likely be attracted to any fishing activity. Obviously, don%26#39;t feed the gator! Some people coax the alligators, who then become too interested in humans; unfortunately, human-oriented gators eventually have to be destroyed.
Have an excellent vacation.
